On 22 June 2020, η Sensitech® θα γιορτάσει την επέτειο των 30 years as a leading provider of visibility solutions in the supply chain. Sensitech relied on the talent of many people to get to this point – specialists in refrigeration chains, logistics αλυσίδας εφοδιασμού, Software, hardware and industrial engineers, together with people with experience and creativity to offer real value to our customers. Thanks to these hardworking and dedicated people, we are here today., Ever since the cold chain started..
We are pleased to begin our celebration with a series of three sections, on the history of monitoring the cold chain through the eyes of our guest author and the former CEO of Sensitech, Eric Schultz. This series will document the history of the cold chain and sensitech's vital role as a developing, innovative industry leader.

With 45.000 Employees, a network of distributors and dealers spanning 172 Countries, production facilities around the world and deep roots in the commercial and refrigeration transport sector, Carrier provided Sensitech with the scope that would allow its monitoring solutions to meet the growing needs of the world. cold chain.1

Activity Development
"Between Carrier, FreightWatch and a series of acquisitions, we have managed to create a real global footprint", said Steve DiRubio, ceo of Sensitech. "We went straight to China and India, and our activities in Europe have increased in size and scope to compete with our traditional business lines in America", Added.
To address the growing complexity of the cold chain, Sensitech and its clients focused on three strategic responses:
- visibility beyond temperature,
- real-time transition and
- extension of analytical data.
Customers no longer define cold chain management as a simple acceptance-rejection decision in a single file and travel.
"Now we're talking about proper cold chain management, quality risk management, Security, transparency and validated chain of custody", said Henry Ames, Director – Life sciences, Sensitech. “The temperature map of each load is still critical, but we have taken a much more holistic picture of the integrity of the supply chain."

In life sciences, the new predictive analytical data help to optimize the packaging and route selection. In the food sector, Sensitech customers can visualize cold chain data critical to support continuous improvement. For example, a large product supplier created cold chain performance measurements that incentivised its transport companies – in some cases leading them to invest in new refrigeration equipment.
COVID-19
"The current COVID-19 crisis has signalled an acceleration of trends that already existed", said Marc Beasley, vice president of strategic marketing and business development – Food, Sensitech. "I've never seen such a lot of talk about the visibility of the cold chain from commodity managers and logistics", Added. "There is also an increase in home delivery, which requires a focus on proper management of the cold chain in the "last mile."
In life sciences, the COVID crisis has resulted in the interruption of clinical trials, while there was an increase in delivery directly to a patient.
"We are also seeing an industry changing rapidly from land and sea transport to air missions", said Ames." And, we are all preparing to deliver billions of doses of vaccine around the world in 2021."

Our Mission
As Sensitech enters its fourth decade, its original idea of monitoring the temperature of a bulk transit product from its source in a distribution centre has been dramatically expanded.
"Our mission with both food and life sciences customers is to prevent risks in their cold chain in ways that focus on their unique challenges", said Mike Hurton, Chairman of Sensitech. "It all starts with accurate measurement of temperature during transit, as was the case at the time of our establishment in 1990. But, thanks to our wonderful global team and our relentless emphasis on innovation, we use new tools – from real-time sensors , the Internet of Things, global information exchange and rich analytical data – to create real cold chain visibility.”
